The challenge
cassinos.info's homepage didn't rank for “melhores cassinos online” at all (July 2019, July 2020, December 2021) and by April 2022 its referring domains had slipped to 34.
What I did
Between August and November 2022 I ran a focused push of homepage links from Brazilian news sites, including O Povo (clearly labelled “Especial Publicitário”) and Jornal Cruzeiro do Sul, plus Gazeta do Cerrado, on top of earlier links from Bahia Notícias and Rondônia ao Vivo.
What happened
The homepage went from #24 in June 2022 to #1 for “melhores cassinos online” in November 2022 and #2 for “cassinos online” (Ahrefs). Its referring domains rose about 85% in the seven months before #1. Google also gave the site the featured answer for “cassinos online confiáveis”. Rankings eased after the December 2022 updates.
