The challenge
Observador's betting section was new and its Betclic and Solverde promo-code pages were already #2 in Portugal. Moving from #2 to #1 is often harder than moving from #20 to #5.
What I did
From June 2024 I placed 15 links (verified live) on Portuguese regional, club and lifestyle sites, including Guia da Cidade, Diário de Coimbra and Jornal do Centro, pointing at the two code pages.
What happened
“codigo promocional betclic” reached #1 by September 2024 and held it to the end of my contract; “codigo promocional solverde” reached #1 in October 2024 (Ahrefs). The section's own authority as part of a national newspaper helped as well and deserves its share of the credit.
